The 4th of July Parade and downtown festival is a unique event, which helps make Redwood City and the Peninsula a truly special place to live. None of this would be possible without the hardworking volunteers who help bring this vision into reality each year.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering is an excellent way for students to gain community service credit. If you require a letter certifying your volunteer hours simply notify the Volunteer Coordinator ahead of time.

All volunteers will also receive a lunch and drink ticket redeemably at the downtown festival on the 4th.

Each volunteer will be provided with an event T-shirt, yours to keep after the event.

Volunteer Duties

While it would be impossible to list the million invaluable ways in which volunteers help make the Parade possible, the following timeline provides a general picture of the volunteer experience;

One week prior to event- 5-10 volunteers are needed to assist placing No Parking signs throughout the parade route and downtown festival area.

July 3rd_ On the evening prior to the event, volunteers help with set-up in the downtown festival area, parade route and parade entry line-up area, clearing and monitoring downtown parking lots, and generally assisting Parade staff.

July 4th - The day of the event, volunteers help with further set up, entry line-up and pacing throughout the route, collecting numbers and badges from entries at the end of the route, parade route tear-down, festival tear down, and general assistance to Parade staff.
