One of the most important parts of any race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is the services provided by the track’s official Pacecar program.  From ensuring the safety during races to giving lucky guests the opportunity to take a ride around the track, it takes a special car to make it as an official Pacecar at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

One of the cars up to task is the tracks’ 2004 Mazda 6.  Decked in bright yellow with racing graphics and safety lights and strobes, this 6 certainly knows how to be the center of attention.  Under the hood, Mazda’s excellent 3.0 6-Cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission is more than up to the task of the track’s 2.238 miles of twists and turns.

Yet that’s not to say that this car relies on only stock parts.  The suspension has been tuned by Mazdaspeed springs and Bilstein shocks while 18” Proline rims and sticky Yokohama tires help the 6 set a blistering pace.  An upgraded ACT clutch and synthetic fluids help the car cope with the stresses of life on a racetrack and a roll cage with racing harnesses ensure the safety of those inside.

There should be no doubt that this car brings Mazda’s motto of ‘Zoom-Zoom’ to life.
